It has been a while since my last group update. In fact, I think the last one I sent was probably moments before I embarked upon a new (but fundamentally old) career at Morgan Stanley. Last communication with a friend prior to beginning an investment banking job, who could have expected that?
While perhaps the comments of "sell-out", "sucka" and "I expected more from you" I received from my last email had some influence on stemming my productivity, sadly, the biggest reason for my email MIAness is that I have had nothing newsworthy to report on, that is until now.
After over a year in NYC, I have finally moved into my own space. While I was mesmorized by that real estate bubble, and flirted with the idea of throwing my hand into the home equity ring, I ultimately chose to escape the shackles of a mortgage by renting a place on 44th Street between 9th and 10th Avenue. This 2.5BR apartment is a fifth-floor walkup gem in the heart of The Kitchen that I am now joyfully in the process of populating with exquisitely hand-crafted pieces from this quaint little mega-superstore from Sweden. The weight associated with an ostensibly successful 28-year old single man still living at home (yes, yes, with his mother) in New York City has finally been lifted. I just hope that the red "L" emblazoned on my chest will fade over time.
So if any of my internationally-scattered friends is interested in coming to NYC and needs a place to crash, I will be more than obliging, I will finally be able.
